St. Mary's holistic approach to childbirth encourages family members to become actively involved in the birthing experience. The following classes and tours are designed to help family members prepare:

Tours of St. Mary's Birthing Center help answer questions you may have regarding the arrival of your newest family member. Children are always welcome and are encouraged to join you... it helps them prepare for their new role in the family.

**Expectant parents should expect to finish their Lamaze classes 2-4 weeks before their due date

4-Week Childbirth Education**... prepares the expectant mother for the childbirth experience. The classes also prepare her support person to be an effective coach during childbirth. The classes provide mother-to-be and their coaches with information on the birth process as well as exercises and techniques for coping with labor. Fee: $50.00 per couple.

2-day weekend Childbirth Education**... class offers the same valuable information as our 4 week class. It is designed for couples with busy schedules and limited time. Classes are offered one weekend every other month and meet on a Friday from 6-9 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Class fee also includes continental breakfast and lunch for two people on Saturday. Fee: $65.00 per couple.

Refresher Childbirth Education**... is for moms and coaches who have already experienced the birth of a child and have had previous Lamaze class. These classes review the labor process and the relaxation and breathing techniques. Fee: $25.00 per couple.

Sibling Class... is a one-session class designed for sibling children ages 3 to 8 years old to prepare them for the birth of a new brother or sister. Classes are held one Thursday every other month from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Fee: $10.00.

Breastfeeding Class... helps pregnant women to make the breastfeeding decision. Taught by a breastfeeding educator and lactation consultant, the class discusses the advantages and disadvantages and the myths associated with breastfeeding and gives practical information on how to nurse a baby. Classes are held every other month on a Thursday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. Fee: $20.00 per couple.

Infant Care Class... prepares expectant parents for the arrival of the baby. The class focuses on newborn apearance, newborn care, growth pattern, illness, immunizations, and safety in the home. A baby bath demonstration is included in the class. Classes are held every other month on a Thursday evening from 7-9 p.m. Fee: $15.00 per couple.

Childbirth Education, Breastfeeding & Infant Care Package... Fee: $75.00 per couple.
Weekend Childbirth Education, Breastfeeding & Infant Care Package... Fee: $90.00 per couple.
Combines the Childbrith Education, Brestfeeding & Infant Care classes as a package.

Natural Family Planning and Consultations are provided by a staff member of St. Mary's Hospital at A Woman's Place The consultations provide knowledge of the natural cycles of fertility and infertility. To meet the individual needs of each person and/or couple, NFP classes are held privately. Call 920-498-4203 for more information.
